Fritidsbanken has many partners but no sponsors. Locally, we cooperate with sports and outdoor associations, sports federations, other organizations, and businesses. Our collaborations are about jointly promoting increased physical activity in a sustainable way.
Fritidsbanken’s cooperation with national sports federations aims to increase interest in each sport and raise awareness of Fritidsbanken among the federations’ clubs and their members. Below you can read more about some of the federations we work with in particular.
Swedish Casting Federation
Casting can best be described as “fishing on land” and is about either precision or distance. Instead of a lure, you use a fly or casting rod with a weight. Today, you can borrow casting equipment at several Fritidsbanken branches across the country. Our staff has received training so we can help you get started. Read more on our Casting page.
Swedish Curling Federation
It is not possible to borrow curling stones and brooms from Fritidsbanken, but you can borrow so-called “floor curling sets.” Floor curling can be played anywhere you have a flat surface and consists of a portable target and wheeled stones. Otherwise, the principle is the same as curling on ice.
Swedish School Sports Federation
School sports clubs are children’s and young people’s own clubs. They are run by the children themselves, with adult support, and decide which sports and activities the club will engage in. Today, there are nearly 1,000 school sports clubs. Through this collaboration, we can help ensure that the necessary equipment is available, and that students who try sports through their school sports club also have the opportunity to borrow equipment for their free time.
Swedish Archery Federation
Archery has existed as a sport since the Middle Ages. In Sweden, the first archery club was founded nearly a hundred years ago. Through this collaboration, we want to spark interest in this historic sport and inspire people to try it. Since there are risks associated with improper use of bows, we organize archery at selected events together with instructors, to help those who want to try it in a safe and structured way.
Swedish Triathlon Federation
Triathlon consists of three disciplines performed in sequence – swimming, cycling, and running. It is an excellent form of exercise for both children and adults, providing all-round training and good endurance. There are around 250 triathlon clubs in Sweden. Together, we want to raise awareness of the sport and encourage more people to try triathlon. With the federation, we also collaborate on paratriathlon.
ReSolution (EU-project)
The ReSolutions project encourages the adoption of innovative approaches for recycling of items that are usable and repairable. It also focuses on raising citizen awareness, as informed individuals drive demand for better circular economy solutions.
The objectives are
I) to raise consumer awareness, by helping people to actively participate in circular economy practices;
II) establish and widen the activities of local Libraries of Things (LOTs), by learning the best practices for lending items and scaling up LOT functions and exploring organizational structures, co-operation possibilities and funding;
III) enhance recycling and upcycling of goods, by improving waste sorting processes and repairing of the goods effectively, and fostering innovation through collaborative ideation, and
IV) provide policy support and exchange of learnings by identifying policy gaps and advocating for supportive policies.
As outputs, ReSolutions will produce and share innovative practices for engaging citizens for circular economy, piloted LOT model for building up a Library of Things, a concept for more effective collection of repairable goods at the waste sorting stations, innovative upcycling solutions (such as products, spinoffs, business models, or technologies), and policy support based on the experiences of the project. With the cross-border collaboration, it will be possible to pool resources, share knowledge and tackle recycling challenges more effectively, and adapt the actions to the local context. The needs of the stakeholders, particularly waste management companies, are addressed by involving them in the project, which will help them achieve their goal of minimizing waste through the project’s outcomes.
Collaborative consumption (lending instead of owning) saves costs for individuals, and circular economy can also create employment opportunities. For municipalities and waste management, better circular economy offers cost savings, resource recovery, and compliance with regulations.
